Tips on how to deal with stress and anxiety

How To Deal With Stress And Anxiety

Let's fix your mental motor and get your drive back to peak performance!

Does your heart beat faster, or does a knot form in your stomach before a stressful situation? So much so that your palms start to sweat, and you can't think straight? Stress and anxiety are becoming quite common nowadays, and they take a toll on our minds and bodies resulting in poor overall health.

While it is normal to feel anxious occasionally, too much of it can have adverse effects. Whether you're worried about a new job, the future, or get anxious about the slightest of things, there are numerous ways you can help yourself.

Here's are three tips on how to deal with them.

Exercising

As you may already know, exercising is one of the best ways to fight stress and anxiety. It helps reduce the added pressure going towards your brain and decreases your body's stress hormones.

A daily workout can help release endorphins that make your mood better. Once you get into the habit of exercising daily, you'll feel a great difference in your mood and attitude. It is a great factor in improving sleep quality, making you feel more self-confident, and improving mental health.

There are many ways of exercising, while some like to go for morning walks, others prefer dancing or yoga. Choose the one that works best for you.

Deep Breathing

Stress and anxiety can get you all worked up – they trigger the sympathetic nervous system that releases stress and anxiety hormones, making your heart beat faster, and you tend to breathe faster.

Deep breathing techniques will allow you to calm down and put your body in relaxation mode. Various deep breathing exercises such as belly breathing and abdominal breathing help you concentrate on your breathing and become aware of every breath you take.

Slow and deep breaths through your nose help the lungs expand fully, allowing the belly to rise. Thus calming the heartbeat rate and allowing you to become calm and at peace. Practice this for ten minutes daily, and you'll start to see the difference.

Pen Down Your Thoughts

A great way to handle your stress and anxiety is to pen down whatever comes to mind. Get those anxious thoughts out of your mind so that they don't seem so overwhelming. When you pen down your feelings, you understand them better. You can tell what emotion occurs when and what are the trigger thoughts.

Journaling helps you in gaining control over your thoughts and emotions. It allows you to improve your mental health because when you write down all that you have in your mind, you're clearing out your brain from all those thoughts. That will help you distinguish what's of importance and what needs to be focused on.

These tips will allow you to regain your breath, keep yourself calm and experience less of these two emotions.
